Principal Engineer - Maintenance Optimisation

Work. The Principal Engineer – Maintenance Optimisation is responsible for developing and optimising asset class plans and strategies covering inspection, operations, maintenance schedules, and renewal requirements, ensuring alignment with Sunwater’s Asset Management system. This is a key role in the Asset Management leadership team and is responsible for providing expert technical advice on strategy and direction.

As Principal Engineer – Maintenance Optimisation at Sunwater, you will:

  • Develop tactical maintenance plans that align with the asset class plans including works instructions that are site specific based on usage, criticality and asset type.
  • Create and digitise work instructions for maintenance activities, fully integrated with updated asset class plans.
  • Apply reliability methodologies such as FMEA to enhance maintenance strategies, balancing preventative and proactive approaches and leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Participate in and lead governance forums, including Asset Management Improvement Program working groups, to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, offering technical guidance and managing improvement related work allocations effectively.

 

We are seeking a talented individual with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Engineering position in an asset intensive organisation, hold a bachelor’s degree in either Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus registration as an RPEQ.

You will also bring:

  • Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, offering technical guidance and managing AMIP-related work allocations effectively.
  • Create and digitise work instructions for maintenance activities, fully integrated with updated asset class plans.
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for writing and presenting quality reports and findings to senior leadership, including the Board and executive leadership team
