Storage Supervisor (Tinaroo Falls Dam)

The Storage Supervisor Position is responsible for the day to day operations of Tinaroo Dam in order to provide safe, reliable and efficient Bulk Water supply for the Mareeba Dimbulah Water Supply Scheme Customers. Housing on site is provided by SunWater.

The role

The Storage Supervisor Position is responsible for the day to day operations of Tinaroo Dam in order to provide safe, reliable and efficient Bulk Water supply for the Mareeba Dimbulah   Water Supply Scheme Customers.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing routine dam and flood surveillance, associated reporting and response to emergency/ breakdowns, including complex fault analysis, to ensure supply interruptions are minimised
  • Scheduling, releasing, controlling measuring and monitoring water distribution through a variety of natural waterways and man-made water delivery infrastructure
  • Operating and maintaining water treatment including maintenance of records and logs to meet required standards
  • Identifying, analysing and resolving operational problems, and ensuring that supply interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures are minimised
  • Preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance of civil assets, machinery, plant operation and water supply infrastructure is undertaken in a timely and effective manner

 

About you

We are looking for someone with the possession of, or the ability to obtain Certificate II and Certificate III in Water Operations and Dam safety training, A class ‘C’ drivers’ licence, in addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to operate or to rapidly acquire the knowledge and skills to operate, pump stations, water storages and distribution networks associated with bulk water supply to irrigation and industrial customers
  • Substantial experience in civil construction, minor mechanical and/or electrical maintenance (in line with qualifications held) for a broad range of infrastructure assets, preferably with experience in the water industry or similar
  • Demonstrates good knowledge and understanding of computer based applications. Uses record keeping systems (i.e. Hummingbird) to save and retrieve documents.
  • A trade skill & boat licence & coxswain ticket would be highly desirable.
  • A Certificate III in water treatment would be highly desirable.
