We’re looking for a motivated Environmental Advisor to join our team and help deliver high quality, compliant and sustainable outcomes across regional Queensland. This is a chance to support major operational and project activities while protecting the state’s unique ecosystems. This is a 24-month fixed term opportunity, based out of our Rockhampton office.
In this role, reporting to the Senior Environmental Business Partner, you will provide expert advice to ensure Sunwater meets its environmental compliance obligations and effectively manages environmental risks. This includes maintaining compliance with environmental approvals and licences, prepare and review key environmental assessments and management plans, and support the effective management of environmental risks including through incident reporting and investigation. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of environmental management systems, programs and processes across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:-
- Provide environmental advice to operational groups within the business to enable activities to be efficiently undertaken with due regard to environmental discipline considerations.
- Monitor compliance and ensure measures are in place to provide assurance in relation to Sunwater’s compliance with environmental approvals, licences or permits
- Prepare and review relevant environmental planning and assessment reports, and management plans for internal and external stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance
- Assist with the management of environmental risks including incident reporting, investigation and close out
- Review and development of environmental management systems, programs, procedures, and processes.

Our ideal candidate will have five years’ experience in a similar role, supported by a degree in an environmental related discipline or equivalent experience. Success in this role requires effective stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders and regulators. You’ll have strong written and verbal communication skills and an analytical mindset.
This role offers an array of attractive benefits including base salary starting from $129,897 (PRO4-1), plus 12.75% superannuation, access to banked time and TOIL, 17.5% leave loading and a genuine emphasis on work/life balance.
