Dam Safety Officer

Are you a safety and compliance professional looking for something a little different? Join Sunwater as a Dam Safety Officer where you’ll play a vital role in maintaining competency registers and compliance requirements for dam safety personnel throughout Queensland. You will ensure Sunwater policies and procedures address compliance implications related to training and qualification requirements for the safe operations of Sunwater’s regulated asset portfolio.  

As a Dam Safety Officer at Sunwater, you will:

  • Provide advice and technical input into the development and review of Sunwater’s policies and procedures relating to Sunwater assets, with a focus on dam safety.
  • Provide input into and support the development of competency levels for each operational role related to Dam Safety Regulator Requirements, ensuring clarity in expectations and alignment with compliance benchmarks. 
  • Undertake gap analysis comparing current training qualifications of dam safety personnel against compliance requirements, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Plan a structured training schedule that meets compliance timelines and supports continuous professional development for dam safety personnel.
  • Working with Learning & Development team to create training reports demonstrating compliance with regulator requirements

We are seeking an individual with experience in emergency management, training delivery or infrastructure compliance who can participate in a 1 in 6 weeks on-call roster. You ideally will have experience within major infrastructure, utilities or asset management. You will also bring:

  • Attention to detail: You take pride in being accurate and thorough, ensuring your work is reliable and mistakes are caught early.
  • Relationship-building and communication skills: You foster strong relationships with operational teams using your advanced communication and engagement skills
  • Data management: You’re confident working with information and metadata, keeping data organised and using it to support clear, informed decisions.
