As part of the Engineering Services team, you’ll provide trusted technical expertise across investigations, options analysis, design, inspections and reporting. You’ll work with a high degree of autonomy, collaborate closely with project leaders and stakeholders, and support the development of engineering standards that underpin Sunwater’s assets now and into the future.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Sunwater, you will:
- Lead the delivery of safe engineering design, planning and inspection services for dam safety upgrade projects, bulk water and irrigation asset refurbishment and new infrastructure works.
- Apply Sunwater’s design and project management processes, including reviewing and formally approving engineering designs, drawings and reports.
- Provide expert technical advice to senior and executive leaders on engineering design, risk and compliance matters.
- Act as Sunwater’s Owner’s Engineer, safeguarding asset performance, integrity and lifecycle value while overseeing externally delivered engineering outcomes.
- Prepare briefs, manage consultant contracts and monitor contractor performance to ensure quality outcomes and value for money.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Sunwater’s engineering standards, technical specifications and design documentation.
- Undertake field work to verify quality, ensure compliance with requirements and provide practical technical assurance and recommendations.
- Deliver projects from early scope and options analysis through to completion, maintaining strong relationships with project teams and stakeholders.
About you:
We’re looking for a seasoned professional with a strong technical foundation and proven confidence to lead complex engineering scope in low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) projects. You will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Mininmum 7 years’ experience in an engineering role within a comparable infrastructure or asset‑intensive environment.
- RPEQ registration under the Professional Engineers Act 2002 (QLD).
- Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards and engineering best practice.
- The ability to work independently, guide others and balance technical excellence with practical delivery.
This permanent, full‑time role offers a starting salary of $161,051, 12.75% superannuation, access to banked time and TOIL, 17.5% leave loading and a genuine commitment to work/life balance.
