Head of ICT Operations

Work. Are you an experienced ICT Operations leader, with a passion for delivering reliable, secure, and connected technology services?  If you are, come and join Sunwater as our Head of ICT Operations and lead the operation of ICT services across ICT infrastructure, applications and service delivery - aligning technology operations across more than 100 sites in Queensland. 

In this leadership role you lead the team and oversee the effective and efficient operation of ICT services, including the adoption of new technologies and the maintenance of existing systems to ensure technology availability and resilience in support of 24x7 operations.  In addition you will:-

  • Optimise Sunwater’s technology portfolio to identify opportunities to consolidate systems, reduce duplication, and enhance capabilities across existing software, platforms, and toolsets to improve cost-efficiency and user experience
  • Drive the design and implementation of business wide Information communication and technology policies, processes, methods and practices to ensure a compliant, agile and fit for purpose governance framework
  • Oversee proactive maintenance activities, including patching, capacity planning, and performance monitoring, to ensure technology availability and resilience in support of 24x7 operations
  • Manage commercial and strategic partnerships with ICT service providers, overseeing contracts, delivery performance, and lifecycle management of service contracts to ensure alignment with organisational goals, performance standards, and cost-effectiveness
  • Represent ICT Operations in governance forums, contributing to informed decision-making and alignment with enterprise architecture, information security, data governance, and project delivery through steering committees such as the Architecture Review Board and technical working groups
  • Oversee the Facilities function including corporate offices, reception services, security, lease renewals and negotiations and building maintenance

We are seeking a professional with 5+ years demonstrated experience in a senior management role, leading ICT operations with a degree in Computer Science/ IT or related field or equivalent experience.  We are also looking for:-

  • Leadership Skills – bring thought leadership to the role to drive a continuous improvement philosophy and role model and coach ICT Operations team members.
  • Analytical Thinking – The ability to translate business needs into practical requirements and solutions.
  • Influential - Demonstrated ability to influence, engage, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
