General Manager - Fitzroy Operations

Work

The General Manager Fitzroy Operations is a newly created role and is a key member of the Operations Leadership team, reporting directly to the Executive General Manager of Operations. This position will provide overall leadership and direction to the Operations team in the Fitzroy region to ensure Sunwater’s business objectives are effectively communicated and understood.     

In this leadership role you will oversee multiple professional disciplines and provide exceptional expertise and guidance to teams and senior stakeholders. You will lead Sunwater initiatives, strategies, oversee team policies and processes and drive cultural transformation of the region to a customer-oriented, efficient operating model.

In addition you will:-

  • Ensure regional bulk water systems, industrial pipelines and irrigation systems are managed and operated in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with shareholder and community expectations.
  • Deliver the operational services in a sustainable and transparent manner that meets or exceeds corporate objectives and targets.
  • Ensure Sunwater complies with all asset related compliance requirements including dam safety, and that obligations are understood and met by the Fitzroy team.
  • Understand, identify, assess and manage risks associated with Sunwater’s regional operations and infrastructure, and develop mitigation strategies in accordance with the expectations of Sunwater’s shareholders, Board, regulators, stakeholders, customers and the community.
  • Ensure strategies and plans for the region to enhance Sunwater’s financial position, respond to changes and trends in the external environment, and strategically position Sunwater for response.

We are looking for an experienced leader with 10+ years working with bulk water, industrial pipelines and irrigation systems or in a similar industry at the executive level.  You will have post graduate qualifications in management, engineering or business.  Project management qualifications would be highly desirable.  In addition you will have:-

  • Strong Leadership Skills – you will bring thought leadership to the role to drive a continuous improvement philosophy and sustainable business environment.
  • Strong Safety Leadership – you will foster outstanding safety leadership for the region by actively driving the cultural changes required to clearly demonstrate Sunwater’s commitment to safety through engagement, mentoring and empowering.
  • Influential – you will positively influence change to the Sunwater culture by promoting and living the Sunwater values and behaviours to support the delivery of our services.

This is a new full-time opportunity, based in the Fitzroy Region (with a preference for Rockhampton, however we will also consider Emerald or Biloela).  This role offers an attractive competitive salary, plus 12.75% superannuation and relocation assistance.
